Geriatric treatment

The outstanding feature of our acute care geriatric hospital is the focus we place on early rehabilitation. This means that the treatment of your ailment is geared to your individual constitution and situation. At the same time, we do everything within our powers to preserve or restore your capabilities, thanks to a broad interdisciplinary team that provides you with intensive support from Day One. The team is made up of doctors, nurses and carers, neuropsychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech therapists, social workers and nutritionists.

Those interested in a deeper insight into geriatrics will find that Wolfgang Gagzow offers a good introduction, among others:

"Geriatrics is a medical discipline that provides acute care, early medical rehabilitation and medical rehabilitation treatment for geriatric patients. For the most part, it therefore usually goes over and beyond pure medical treatment, offering additional services above all in terms of multidisciplinary diagnosis and functional therapy, together with prevention and palliative care. Close cooperation with family members, GPs and therapists together with home nursing services and residential care institutions plays a particular role in geriatrics and is therefore an integral part of the regional concept for comprehensive, cross-facility care."
